As a gamer who has navigated through countless narratives, I must say that the latest episode of Outlander season 7 truly took me on a rollercoaster ride. Roger MacKenzie, a character I’ve grown to appreciate over time, had some standout moments in this week’s episode.
We left Roger and Buck at the door of Geillis Duncan at the end of the previous episode. It’s time to look at Roger’s best moments in Outlander season 7, episode 10.
Upon seeing Geillis at the door, Roger MacKenzie instantly knew it was her – given his prior knowledge of her, this wasn’t unexpected. Yet, there were certain details he needed to conceal, waiting for the perfect moment to reveal them.
Among the ancestors I encountered, it wasn’t just Geillis who crossed my path; I also met Dougal MacKenzie. This encounter played a pivotal role in helping me unravel the mystery of how both myself and Buck had been transported to the wrong time period. Let’s reminisce about some standout moments from Roger, as we revisit his highlights from Outlander season 7, episode 10.
Telling Buck everything
Initially, Roger found it difficult to share a lot of details with Buck since Geillis was present. He didn’t feel comfortable revealing everything then and there. Later on, he held back and promised to fill Buck in later. Fortunately, he did disclose all the truth to Buck eventually. They have no secrets from each other.
Over the past several episodes, there’s been a significant transformation in the relationship between Roger and Buck. At first, Roger harbored intense dislike towards Buck due to his role in nearly causing Roger’s death. To be candid, we weren’t sure if Buck could be trusted. However, as we delved deeper into their storylines, we witnessed Buck’s loyalty towards his family. The instant he discovered that Roger was related, everything shifted, and I must admit, I appreciate that quality in him.
Currently, Roger has undergone a transformation. He yearns for companionship to discuss his ideas with. Roger is a person who prefers expressing thoughts externally. He finds this with Buck, and their relationship is so candid that it’s quite invigorating to witness in a television show.
Roger pushing off Geillis’s advances
In the episode, it’s worth considering if Geillis and Rob might have been part of the scheme to bring Jem together. Although it’s conceivable, Roger struggles to grasp the practicalities and motives behind such a plan, especially given Rob’s desire for gold in 1739. However, he doesn’t dismiss the idea entirely—which I find fascinating! Roger doesn’t belittle Buck for entertaining this thought.
Roger wonders if Geillis has any information about Rob Cameron. Can you spot any hints that they know each other? Although it seems she doesn’t, the situation doesn’t end there. Curiously, Geillis attempts to charm or attract Roger.
Roger maintains distance from her, sharing with us the various reasons behind this, some of which involve their family ties. Nevertheless, he ultimately acknowledges that he’s married, a fact he previously discussed with Brian and received approval for. Despite Geillis’ attempts to entice him, Roger remains uninterested. His heart belongs to Bree, and his desire is to reunite with her.
Finding out about his dad’s dog tags
At the close of the episode, it was all about that moment. Dougal presented something intriguing that he believed could be relevant or useful to Roger – but it wasn’t a charm as assumed. Instead, it turned out to be dog tags, and surprisingly, they hold significance for Roger. However, they aren’t the key items he needed to locate Jem.
Could it be possible that Roger possesses his father’s identification tags, who went MIA (missing in action) during World War II? Is there a chance he might have time-traveled? Given the dog tags are present now, it does seem plausible. The man often talked about as having magical abilities is Jerry MacKenzie.
As a gamer, I couldn’t help but be captivated by Roger’s emotions when he deciphered the significance of those dog tags. You see, he never had the chance to know his old man, and now here he stands, facing an adult version of the man his dad could have been. Deep within him, it’s not the heartwarming reunion he yearns for, but it’s something. And he knows that his father didn’t perish in World War II.
