As a long-time Outlander fan, I must say that season 7, episode 9 was a rollercoaster of emotions! Jamie Fraser’s return to Lallybroch brought forth some poignant moments that truly resonated with me.
As a devoted Outlander fan, I’m thrilled to share that Jamie Fraser returned to Lallybroch in season 7, episode 9. Amongst numerous impactful scenes, there were three that truly resonated with me.
In this installment, it becomes clear that ‘home’ can take on different meanings. For Jamie, Fraser’s Ridge has been his sanctuary over the past years in America. Lallybroch still holds a special place in his heart, but it’s not the same as when he parted ways with it.
Recognizing that he would return to America eventually, Jamie understood that there were certain matters he had left undone. This insight sparked some memorable scenes during the episode.
Admitting his love for Claire to Laoghaire
In spite of the criticism Laoghaire often receives, I’d like to remind people that Jamie Fraser led her on during the first season of Outlander. Keep in mind that she was only 16 years old and a product of her time. When Jamie protected her from punishment at Castle Leoch, she interpreted it as a sign of his affection for her. Then, when he kissed her in the stairwell, she thought it meant they were destined to be together.
In the seventh season of Outlander, during episode 9, I found myself face-to-face with Jamie. It was finally time for a conversation we both had been avoiding. She pointed out that throughout our relationship, I never truly loved her, and in a sense, I led her on with my feelings. I was well aware of her feelings towards me, yet I continued to keep her hopes alive. Was it really shocking that she thought I married Claire out of necessity rather than desire?
It’s satisfying to notice that Jamie has finally accepted responsibility for his past actions. It’s been overdue, and although it was painful for Laoghaire to discover this, she required that honesty and resolution.
Jamie isn’t a perfect man, as much as many fans would love to say he is.
Supporting Claire in telling the Murrays the truth
Claire made up her mind to share with the Murray family the fact that she can move through time. Jamie had reservations about this, yet eventually agreed. It was clear to him that discussing the French Revolution with Michael was significant to her.
Jamie stood beside Claire, offering silent reassurance as she conveyed the news to the family. He let Claire handle the conversation, but his presence served as a powerful testament to the truth of her words. It was crucial for Claire to have him there, and it provided comfort and validation for the entire family. By standing by Claire in this way, Jamie effectively communicated the authenticity of the situation.
Jamie certainly isn’t perfect; there are moments when he displays aggression. Yet, despite his volatile nature, he harbors deep affection for Claire and will stand by her throughout their journey together.
Being there for Jenny when she needed him
As Jamie ventured out for a hunt, an alarming shriek echoed through the wilderness. Assuming someone had been injured in the 9th episode of Outlander’s seventh season, he dropped his game and hastily approached with his rifle at the ready. Upon finding Jenny alone, he could finally let out a sigh of relief.
He appreciated his ability to consider if she preferred him to step back. He recognizes there are moments when one yearns to express oneself loudly to the universe. He understands that at times, one simply needs to vent some of the distress and fury, and not everyone wants to be present during such releases.
By inquiring about Jenny’s preference, he placed decision-making power at her fingertips. He offered her the option and was ready to follow through with whatever decision she chose. Eventually, she sought the comfort of her brother for support, which he graciously provided. While there were moments of levity, he emphasized that despite their age difference, he is her solid foundation in times of need.
In the series Outlander, their sibling bond hasn’t been extensively portrayed. However, this particular scene serves as a gentle reminder of their closeness, as they each express their sorrow in unique ways.
