As a seasoned Outlander fan, I must say that episode 12 of season 7 was a rollercoaster of emotions. The reunion between Claire and Jamie was long overdue, but oh, so worth the wait!
In the 12th episode of “Outlander” season 7, we finally witnessed a long-awaited reunion that left us satisfied. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and relive some of Claire’s most memorable scenes from this captivating episode.
The narrative has reached a challenging phase for many fans. It seemed that Jamie had perished, resulting in an unexpected union between Lord John Grey and Claire, primarily to shield Claire from charges of espionage. However, it turned out that Jamie wasn’t deceased at all, and the consequences of their earlier actions are surfacing now.
In the meantime, it has come to light that Jamie is William’s father. This revelation led to a tense situation that Claire found herself having to handle.
Claire explains what she can to William
I’d prefer if the television adaptation had developed the relationship between Claire and William more effectively throughout the series. In the books, they share quality time and grow closer to one another. It felt somewhat unexpected when William sought help from Claire in the show initially, but it proved to be a truly impactful scene.
Claire demonstrated compassion since she had previously experienced a similar situation with Brianna discovering the truth about Jamie and Frank. She is aware of Jamie’s temperament, yet she recognizes that concealing such information isn’t always the best course of action. However, it wasn’t like she had a choice in the matter.
Indeed, she was not only kind towards him but also generous with what she had to offer. Moreover, her responses were tactful, demonstrating a sense of diplomacy. In essence, she was a caring stepmother, showing kindness in her interactions with him.
Caring about what happened to Lord John Grey
When I got back without John, I couldn’t help but wonder what went down. To be completely honest with you, there were a few other matters demanding my attention at that moment. You see, I had to level with you about what transpired between us and John. Now, I can’t deny feeling a pang of guilt for my part in it. But deep down, I know John didn’t deserve the brunt of the punishment he received.
It’s understandable that she took notice of John’s whereabouts, given their close bond. While Jamie might not have intentionally harmed him, there’s concern about whether John has met with harm instead of death. Her compassion towards him amidst the chaos speaks volumes about how their bond has evolved over the series. In contrast, season 3 Claire may not have shown much concern for Lord John Grey.
Making it clear she is Jamie’s wife
At the climax of the episode, the reunion was simply magnificent. What particularly caught my attention was how unequivocally Claire asserted her status as Jamie’s wife. This truth is undeniably etched in both her thoughts and feelings.
Jamie aspires to take charge in the situation, feeling himself as the aggrieved one, which she acknowledges. However, just because she understands doesn’t mean she has to agree. Interestingly, she has the ability to provide Jamie with what he requires – a fiery reminder that their bond remains unbroken, regardless of everything that has happened.
