As a long-time League of Legends and Riot Games fan, I’m both excited and disappointed with the recent news about the 2XKO playtest and the absence of Jinx and Katarina. While I understand that game development is an iterative process, it’s disheartening to learn that two beloved champions won’t be available for testing.
As a long-time fan of fighting games, I’m really excited about Riot Games’ upcoming release, 2XKO. Sadly, we don’t have much to go on yet besides the scheduled playtest. Having attended several game beta tests in the past, I can tell you that this is an essential step in the development process. It gives developers valuable feedback from players and helps refine the game before its official launch.
Unfortunately, Jinx and Katarina won’t be part of the upcoming character test sessions despite our plans to experiment with various options.
Why Are Jinx And Katarina Not Available
In a recent interview, Shaun Rivera, the game director at 2XKO, shared some insights regarding Ahri’s design. He mentioned that they have worked on making Ahri more accessible for players, allowing fans with ease to learn and master her.
About Jinx he stated:
She wasn’t hitting as hard as we wanted. Specifically, she wasn’t hitting as hard as soon-to-be Jinx Mains would expect her to.

According to Spideraxe, who is active on both the League of Legends wiki and Twitter, mentioned that Katarina won’t be part of the upcoming playtest. This is because Riot Games needed to make modifications to her abilities in response to the changes implemented in 2XKO.
2XKO was changed into a Tag-Team Fighting Game during development.
Additionally, it was mentioned that Katarina was removed from the 2XKO debut lineup due to her equipment being heavily connected to the game’s former mechanics (prior to its transformation into a tag-team game). The developers aim to give her an appropriate introduction when she is eventually released.
