As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must admit that the revelation of 2XKO’s player lobby and avatar features has me all geared up! The arcade setting, ‘The Last Hit,’ reminds me of the good old days in Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6, where the hub was a vibrant melting pot of gamers.
As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in both Tekken and Street Fighter series over the years, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and nostalgia as Riot Games prepares to open the closed alpha test for their upcoming game, 2XKO. The similarities between the systems they’ve shown us and those found in Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 are striking, and I can’t help but feel that this new title will offer a familiar yet refreshing twist on the fighting game genre that I’ve come to love. From player lobbies and avatar creation to cosmetic customization options for our in-game personas, it seems that Riot is taking a page from the playbooks of these iconic franchises. I can’t wait to see how they put their own unique spin on things and create something truly special.
2XKO’s video on their social media platform showcased the player lounge and character customization options. In the 2XKO game, there’s a unique arcade atmosphere known as “The Last Hit” in the player lounges. Here, you can interact with other players by joining match queues for either single or duo games, watch other players’ matches, or simply enjoy live matches displayed on the large screens in every lounge.

It’s reasonable to infer that 2XKO is adopting a pattern seen in Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8’s fighter hubs, which are similar to arcades. These social spaces have demonstrated an entertaining and lively atmosphere where players can meet, interact, and participate in ongoing activities within the game’s world. Naturally, customization options for our characters were expected, and the ability to personalize our avatars, along with potential character-themed cosmetics in the future, should be fun.
Regardless of the path taken, it seems clear that 2XKO is making significant progress towards becoming a fully-fledged fighting game. With its alpha test weekend fast approaching, we’re eagerly waiting for updates and insights on this exciting title. Keep an eye on our coverage of 2XKO right here at Shacknews.
