The upcoming 2025 Cannes Film Festival boasts a roster featuring films from directors such as Wes Anderson, Richard Linklater, and Spike Lee.
What movies are premiering at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival?
Two standout films, Anderson’s “The Phoenician Scheme” and Linklater’s “Nouvelle Vague,” are set to premiere in competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The Phoenician Scheme – A Humorous Spy Thriller Featuring Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, and Michael Cera
Nouvelle Vague – Unveiling the Production of Jean-Luc Godard’s Film Breathless, Starring Guillaume Marbeck as Jean-Luc Godard and Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg.
In addition to the film being showcased, other movies competing for recognition are “Ari Aster’s Eddington”, “Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value”, “Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind”, and “Oliver Hermanus’ The History of Sound”. These films are also part of the competition lineup.
Among the movies not mentioned in the official announcement is Lee’s film titled “Highest 2 Lowest”. Despite not being announced during the press conference, Lee himself revealed on Instagram that his unique adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s “High and Low” will have its premiere as an out-of-competition presentation.
At the Cannes Film Festival, which takes place from May 13th through the 24th, Juliette Binoche will serve as the head juror. This year’s Palme d’Or of Honor goes to Robert De Niro.
