2 Netflix new releases to watch and 1 to skip this weekend (Sept. 13)

As a seasoned binge-watcher who’s seen more shows than I care to count, let me guide you through this weekend’s Netflix offerings. If you haven’t already, Emily in Paris season 4 part 2 is an absolute must-see – it’s like a warm croissant you can’t resist!

Due to an abundance of fresh content available every month, week, and weekend, choosing what to watch can often feel overwhelming. Do you opt for the trending series that everyone seems to be discussing? Is the newly released movie worth investing your time in? Or should you stick with your trusted comfort show yet again?

This weekend, it’s perfectly fine to indulge in your favorite comfort shows, but Netflix has also come out with some fantastic new releases worth adding to your viewing list. Of course, the second part of Emily in Paris season 4 is a definite watch and should be on your schedule this weekend. The final episodes from season 4 premiered on September 12 and brought some of the show’s most surprising plot twists yet.

Besides Emily in Paris, here’s what else Netflix has in store for you this weekend: A beloved and underestimated series starring Stephen Amell, a fresh Netflix original film featuring Joey King, and an engaging documentary are all waiting for you. Take a look at our suggestions below!

Heels seasons 1 and 2

Here’s something interesting: Stephen Amell, famous for his role as Arrow, isn’t starring in a show about footwear. Instead, he headlines the wrestling drama series Heels on Starz. Alexander Ludwig co-stars as Jack Spade’s brother and rival Ace. The show premiered in 2021 but was canceled in 2023 after two seasons. Now, both seasons are coming to Netflix for the first time on Sept. 15. Heels is hoping to gain new viewers with this release. Don’t forget to catch up on all 16 episodes when it becomes available on Netflix this weekend.

Uglies

Pass on watching Uglies this weekend! On the surface, Uglies seems like an unmissable watch, especially given its stellar cast that includes Joey King, Chase Stokes, Keith Powers, and Laverne Cox. It’s a Netflix original movie based on Scott Westerfeld’s best-selling book of the same name. However, if you’re familiar with the Divergent Series, you might find Uglies to be a repetition in the dystopian sci-fi genre, offering little that’s new. There’s certainly action and thrills to be enjoyed, but for many Netflix viewers, this one might not be worth their time over the weekend.

Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter

As a longtime fan of heart-wrenching documentaries, I highly recommend checking out “Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter” on Netflix this weekend. With over three decades having passed since she gave her daughter up for adoption, the story of a birth mother’s tireless search for answers about what happened to her lost child resonates deeply with me. Having experienced the pain and uncertainty that comes with not knowing the fate of a loved one, I can attest to the emotional impact this film will have on viewers.

More to watch on Netflix this weekend:

  • The Perfect Couple
  • Emily in Paris
  • The Circle
  • Outla
  • Edge of Tomorrow

  • How to Get Away with Murder (leaving Sept. 30!)
