As a seasoned binge-watcher who’s navigated countless streaming platforms and holiday seasons, let me tell you that this weekend’s Netflix offerings have piqued my interest more than Santa’s elves on a sugar high!
Here comes another weekend, and surprisingly, we’re a week nearer to Christmas! This implies it’s high time for indulging in various shows centered around the holidays – be it your favorite traditional Christmas movies or the freshly released ones on streaming platforms like Netflix, which will certainly get you feeling festive.
Over the upcoming weekend, Netflix is presenting a fresh spy drama series with a festive backdrop (it’s set during Christmas!), the new season of a highly popular reality show, an animated Christmas film, and to top it all off, a holiday special from one of this year’s biggest pop stars.
Check out what to watch and what to skip on Netflix this weekend with our recommendations below!
Black Doves
Get ready! Another exhilarating series is coming up that will keep you on your toes with unexpected twists. While we eagerly await the second seasons of “The Recruit” and “The Night Agent” in January, it’s now Keira Knightley’s turn to take action on Netflix.
The actress who was nominated for an Oscar takes center stage in the recently released espionage thriller titled “Black Doves“. Already a favorite among viewers, it quickly climbed to the second spot on the list of most-watched shows just one day after its debut. Given that Netflix has already greenlit a second season, you might want to dive in straight away!
The Ultimatum season 3
Start streaming! The newest season of Netflix’s dating reality show “The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On” premiered on December 4, and just as expected, it quickly gained popularity among viewers who were filling their reality TV cravings in the absence of Netflix’s top-rated shows like “Love is Blind” and “Too Hot to Handle”.
As a devoted fan of The Ultimatum, here’s my schedule for the next three weeks: Episode 1 to 5 dropped on Dec 3, and I’m all set to catch episodes 6 to 8 on Dec 11. The grand finale, episode 10, airs on Dec 18. If you’re a fellow enthusiast like me, mark your calendars! But if this series isn’t quite your cup of tea, don’t worry, there’s always another game to play.
That Christmas
Pay Attention! After a month-long burst of fresh Christmas romantic comedies on Netflix in November, it’s now time for more heartwarming holiday tales to take center stage on the streaming platform. This time, Netflix has released a new animated Christmas movie that is absolutely delightful for family viewing during movie night.
This Christmas film, which first aired on December 4, has quickly become one of the most beloved movies of the week. It’s a heartwarming collection of interconnected holiday stories, penned by the same writer behind “Love Actually” and “Notting Hill”. What’s not to adore about this promising future holiday masterpiece?
A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter
Bonus: Watch! As a bonus must-watch of the weekend, breakout pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter caps off a massively successful year for her music with her Netflix special A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter. The festivities begin on Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. ET.
In this unique setting, Carpenter sings numbers from her festive extended play titled “fruitcake,”, such as the title track “A Nonsense Christmas,” a revamped version of her popular song “Nonsense.” Alongside Chappell Roan, Shania Twain, Tyla, and others, Carpenter delivers duets, promising an array of unexpected delights. So, be sure to keep that list updated and ready for checking!
