160GB storage space & 16 GB RAM: Stalker 2 system requirements updated

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the latest system requirements for Stalker 2 have left me both excited and slightly concerned. With the recent upgrade from an 8GB RAM to a 16GB minimum requirement, it seems like I’ll need to invest in some new hardware before diving into the post-apocalyptic world of Chernobyl once more.

Just under a week before the launch of Stalker 2, GSC Game World has unveiled their final, more extensive system requirements compared to what was previously known.

Originally, we needed a storage capacity of 150GB, but now it’s bumped up to 160GB. This might not seem like much of an increase, but the minimum required RAM has doubled from 8GB to a robust 16GB. What was previously considered “recommended” specifications is now more accurately described as “medium”.

As a die-hard fan excitedly preparing for the release of Stalker 2, I can’t help but be amazed by the “epic” system requirements that GSC has graciously provided to ensure an immersive gaming experience. Here’s a glimpse at what my rig might need to run the game at a stunning 4k resolution with a smooth 60 fps:

Low (1080p, 30 fps):

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB, or Intel Arc A750
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 160GB SSD

Medium (1080p, 60 fps):

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super / RTX 4060 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 160GB SSD

High (1440p, 60 fps):

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-11700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti / RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
  • RAM: 32GB
  • Storage: 160GB SSD

Epic (4K, 60+ fps):

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-13700KF or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
  • RAM: 32GB
  • Storage: 160GB SSD

For some users on X (previously Twitter) and Steam, these new figures raised a question about the game’s performance due to an increase in minimum requirements. However, we won’t truly know how the game performs until the launch of Stalker 2 on November 20.
