The Russo Brothers have expressed their thoughts on the possibility of them helming a James Bond film.
At present, Joe and Anthony Russo are engaged in the production of two upcoming Marvel Studios’ Avengers films: “Avengers: Doomsday” set for release in 2026 and “Avengers: Secret Wars” scheduled for 2027. Besides that, they are deeply immersed in the development of Amazon Prime Video’s series, “Citadel,” which debuted in 2023, bearing a strong resemblance to the James Bond franchise.
What did the Russo Brothers say about directing a Bond movie?
Due to their past projects such as Citadel and collaborations with Amazon, who now controls the creative aspects of 07 (James Bond), The Hollywood Reporter questioned the Russos about their potential interest in leading the directorial efforts for a James Bond film if offered the chance.
Joe mentioned that their current focus is on the next two Avengers films, but he made it clear that they have fond feelings for Bond and enjoy working with Amazon. After completing the Avengers movies, they have several projects in the works at AGBO that they plan to direct.
Amazon has not officially announced any forthcoming Bond-related project at this time.
The latest movie by the Russos, titled “The Electric State”, is currently available for streaming on Netflix. This film features an impressive cast that includes Chris Pratt, Millie Bobby Brown, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander, and others in live-action roles. Additionally, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Alan Tudyk, Colman Domingo, among others, lend their voices to characters within the film.
The Electric State is a movie about Michelle Brown, a young lady who journeys with a friendly yet enigmatic robot companion. The narrative unfolds as they unwillingly join forces with the eccentric wanderer Keats, portrayed by Pratt, embarking on a transcontinental voyage to locate Michelle’s younger brother. Meanwhile, the movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday” is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 1, 2026, and it’s brought to you by Marvel. Following closely behind on May 7, 2026, is another Avengers film called “Avengers: Secret Wars.
