IO Interactive recently revealed 30 minutes of gameplay footage from their upcoming game, 007 First Light, scheduled for release on March 27, 2026. The footage showcases James Bond’s initial mission and highlights the game’s unique features.

Unlike some Bond adaptations, 007 First Light tells an original story focused on a young James Bond and his journey to become the famous 007 agent.

A Cinematic Start

The game starts with a cinematic introduction that feels like a James Bond opening, setting up the story. Then, you take control and experience a beautiful drive through the mountains, ultimately arriving at a remote, high-security luxury hotel.

Okay, so James goes undercover – he uses a fake name to get onto the grounds. First, we see him settling into the spot he’d planned in the parking lot, and then the game cuts to another scene.

The First Mission

Playing as James, you notice something strange: a hotel worker tossing a suitcase over a wall. Determined to investigate, you break from your assigned duty and attempt to enter the hotel discreetly. After getting past the guards, you can climb and move along the building’s walls – it feels a bit like the gameplay in Uncharted.

A Bond-Style Chase

The next mission is a high-speed chase where you’ll drive over fields, up stairs, and even through fences and railings. Expect plenty of drifting and screeching tires! You can also find shortcuts to gain ground on the vehicle ahead, and sometimes you’ll be forced off the road to find alternative paths.

The gameplay then cuts to a thrilling sequence where James battles through an airfield, relying on a pistol. Players can use the surroundings to help them, like exploding barrels and cars for powerful blasts.

This part of the mission finishes with a quick scene where you attempt to reach the airplane as it flies away.
