In the run-up to his election, President Trump promised to make the US a Bitcoin superpower, igniting the US crypto rush and the resurgence of meme coins. “I’m laying out my plan to ensure that the United States will be the crypto capital of the planet and the Bitcoin superpower of the world,” Trump said at the Bitcoin 2024 conference.
Now, even university endowments and powerhouse charities are joining the crypto rush. Emory University became the first college endowment to disclose holdings of Bitcoin exchange-traded funds, and others have followed suit. The Rockerfeller Foundation also told the Financial Times that it would consider increasing exposure to cryptocurrencies if its user base becomes more diversified.
